## Short answer

Wyoming has no personal income tax, so employers do not withhold any state income tax. A Wyoming paycheck shows federal income tax based on Form W-4, Social Security at 6.2% up to the annual wage base, and Medicare at 1.45%, plus 0.9% above $200,000. There are no local income taxes and no state disability or paid leave deductions.

## State income tax

Wyoming does not tax personal or corporate income. There is no state income tax line on a Wyoming stub and no state withholding certificate for new hires. Much of the state's revenue comes from mineral production and sales taxes, which have nothing to do with payroll. For employees, the practical effect is that take-home pay depends almost entirely on federal withholding and their own benefit choices.

## Other state payroll deductions

Wyoming has no state disability insurance and no paid family leave payroll program. Unemployment insurance and workers' compensation premiums are costs of the employer, handled through the Department of Workforce Services, and are not taken out of employee pay. So beyond federal taxes, what a Wyoming employee sees on a stub is personal:

- Health or other insurance premiums
- Retirement contributions
- Garnishments or child support when a court orders them

## Local taxes

Wyoming cities and counties do not levy income taxes, so where someone works in the state makes no difference to withholding.

## Federal withholding still applies

Federal payroll taxes are the core of a Wyoming paycheck:

- **Federal income tax**, based on the employee's Form W-4.
- **Social Security** at 6.2% of wages until year-to-date pay reaches the annual Social Security wage base.
- **Medicare** at 1.45% of every dollar, with an additional 0.9% withheld once wages pass $200,000 for the year.

## Creating a Wyoming pay stub with PayStubNest

Go to [/app/new](https://www.paystubnest.com/app/new), enter hourly pay and hours or a salary, and pick Wyoming. The exact figures on each stub depend on the employee's pay, pay frequency, W-4 choices, deductions and year-to-date totals, and PayStubNest calculates all of it automatically: federal withholding with no state tax, and year-to-date totals carried forward from stub to stub. That is especially handy for seasonal or variable-hour work common in Wyoming, where pay changes a lot between periods. Preview free, and pay only when you download.

## Record-keeping tip

For crews that travel for work, keep a simple log of any days worked in other states. Neighboring states such as Idaho, Montana, Colorado, Nebraska and Utah all tax wages, and those days may need that state's withholding even though the Wyoming stub shows none. For pay statement rules, check the [Wyoming Department of Workforce Services](https://dws.wyo.gov), and see our [guides](https://www.paystubnest.com/guides) for help with each stub field.
